What a great day Sunday 22nd April was for our 1st Husky SUP Club meet at Shark Net beach.
We were blessed with calm waters (with just a little bit of gentle swell), no wind and am amazing roll up of existing and new members. Over 60 paddlers joined in the activities and 15 new members signed up on the day – we now have 103 stand up paddlers in the Club, which includes 18 families!
Our day’s activities included an exploration cruise, a children’s race, relays, a paddle technique workshop and a race around the island. It was great to see so many children participating on the day and thanks must go to David and Maree Broach for the making their speed boat available as a rescue boat. It certainly gave the children added confidence to venture further afield (not to mention the adults).
Thank you also to Arnold and Annie Aldous from Aquatique for providing a cabanna, tables and chairs; to Dolphin Watch Cruises for their donation of a First Aid kit and to Ken Stapleton for donating the Rip Curl watch for the raffle. Ray Martin who joined the club on Sunday was the lucky winner, so welcome and congratulations Ray. Members were able to enjoy sausage sandwiches and cold drinks thanks to the hard work of Loren Keller on the BBQ – thank you Loren.
Our next meet is our Santa Paddle on Sunday 24 June – stay tuned for more details on the website and facebook.com/huskysupclub
