Sorry about the delay getting this report out and photos up but, well I have no excuse! SORRY.
Now for those of you who stayed rugged up in bed on Sunday morning, well, you missed out!
Spot X delivered the goods again on Sunday morning for our latest surf session with shoulder high waves and the odd head high set thrown in for good measure. Check out the photos on FB here and the Website.
The moon was eerie at around 7.00am, as big as the sun and high in the sky to the West. This cool morning looked like shaping up to be a cracker, and yes, we couldn’t have asked for more.
Once the sun had burnt the chill off the air most of our SUPer keen SUPPER’s had hit the water. The waves were a little bit full on the smaller ones but the high tide didn’t seem to bother the sets too much with nice smooth crumbly walls providing plenty of opportunity to “strut your stuff”.
Again the Callalla contingent were well represented as was Shoalhaven Heads and Sussex Inlet, aaaannnndd we had a visitor all the way from Denmark, thanks for coming along Herbie – No not me I’m Herby or Herbo whatever you prefer. Herbie tagged along with Captain Jase and is looking forward to giving the waves a go, “It looks like so much fun”.
Members were spread out along the beach between 2 and 3 different breaks which all changed with the tide. We had left’s and right’s to chose from with some absolute cracker rides being had by most of us. There was the usual banter amongst us, “My wave”, “No my wave” and “Hey drop in on Macka” “No, drop in on Herby”, and don’t forget the giggle girt, you know who you are Leesup.
Mad Dog Morgan made the comment at the end of the day that “It was definitely worth the drive”, sounds familiar Mick…….. And yes you are right, it was definitely worth getting out of bed for and driving to our piece of SUParadise.
Hey Yazzie, try not to drive so hard off the tail into your cutback or you’re likely to snap a fin! Argh bugga, should have got that advice earlier. Oh well a little bit of collateral damage but you’ll be back next time.
Before we get to the results, we’ve changed the points system to reflect Men’s and Women’s point score as well as making 1st place worth 1000 points with 10% less for 2nd ie: 900pts and so on with 100 points for turning up and not participating (so you still gets points for supporting your club). Hope this hasn’t confused you too much.
Now down to the results for the day:
Men’s
1st place – Chris Whyte 1000 pts
2nd place – Mick Morgan 900 pts
3rd place – Loren Kellar 810 pts
Women’s
1st place – Tie for 1st with Lynne Duffy and Lisa Cross each receiving 1000 pts
3rd place – Yaz Kellar 810 pts
The rest of you won’t know where you are on the leader board which means, turn up and get more points. I have kept this rant brief and would like to thank everyone for making the effort on a very cool morning and hope to see you all on the water real soon.
Don’t forget we are trying to get some numbers for a weekend away in September down to Broulee, details are on the website and FB, we need to finalise this ASAP. Can you let us know real soon if you would like to go, thanks.
Cheers Herby.
