Isn’t it Good to See Old People Having Fun!

Well apparently, that’s what a young couple thought on Sunday February 1 watching us ”old people” playing around on our new inflatable SUP’s.

Yes, there were spills, thrills, hearts pumping, laughter, a little bit of interference and of course plenty of silly buggers.

It was actually nice time spent with a great bunch of “youngens at heart” with not a care in the world. We started off early down at Holden St, setting up before 8.00am ready for the hungry members to chow down some egg and bacon rolls before the paddle games.

Oh, the Inflatable SUP’s

After pumping up 6 inflatables the general consensus was that “we need to get an electric pump” to get the job done efficiently, plenty of sweat and heavy breathing going on.

Mind you, as I was hard at work on the BBQ, I just didn’t have any spare time to give the others a hand. Oh well, maybe next time hehe.

Let the Games Begin

paddle games

Captain Mickie M had the games all sorted out with wonderful clear instructions to follow….so which buoy do we go around first Mick and then where?… you get the idea.

First up was SUP polo, it was a bit trickier than first thought, especially trying to manoeuvre the ball with the paddle, we have some ideas for the next games.

There were many bumps, dumps, thumps and “oh crap” during the SUP polo which made for great spectator sport oh, everyone was completely above board with no foul play, yeah right.

Then we had some rounds of… oh I don’t know, teams of 2, 1 paddles out around the far buoy, returns to the beach and picks up their partner with both then paddling out and back, no interference there either.

After that I think there was a public display of SUP jousting with Graeme and Eddie trying hard to be kind to each other, that game might be a work in progress too.

Finally finishing off the water activities with a 3 person relay which was going fine for most teams until Kia “missed” 1 of the buoys and took a leisurely Sunday stroll back to the original course, but that’s what it’s all about.

Nothing too serious just a belly full of laughs.

SUPper Club Delights

After all that heart pumping excitement we wound down with some delicious morning tea (without the tea or coffee haha).

Thank you to Jeanette and Sony for the delicious scones, jam and cream, Jane’s lamingtons and Steves chockie cakes (although we never quite got to those last 2 as we were pretty full). Hope to see those on Wednesday.

Finishing the Arvo at JB Brewery

Because us “ole people” like to have fun, some of us had a bit left in the tank and were joined by some fresh faces at the Jervis Bay Brewery for a bevvie or 2 and a bit of a nibble.

Accompanied by a solo artist to add to the vibe we spent a couple of hours there recapping the day among other things.

Merchandise Has Landed

Our new Tee shirts and Hoodies finally arrived on Friday and most of the pre orders were paid for and picked up with quite a few extra sales on the day.

We still have quite a bit of stock for sale with limited colours and will have them with us on Wednesday afternoons. T-shirts are $30 and Hoodies are $55.

I think it’s fair to say the new merch was a hit, the pinks seemed to be a bit of a hit and sorry Mick you’ll have to wait for the next drop for your hot pink Tee.

Thanks to the committee and members for turning up and making it a successful morning. All up we had 21 turn up and at least 15 in the water. I think that’s a great turn out.

Check out what’s coming up on the calendar here.

Hope to see you real soon on the water.

That’s a Sunday Social wrap from 1 of the “Old persons enjoying themselves”. Cheers Herby.
